January's theme is "Living the Science of Mind." Rev. Suzanne Gray speaks on "Science, Superstition and Common Sense."
Rev. Gray was ordained in 1996 by Dr. O.C.Smith founding minister of the City of Angels Church of Religious Science in Los Angeles, California. She was honored to be part of the first ministerial class to graduate under the leadership of Dr. Smith and Dr. Linda Logan. Tapped by Dr. Smith to serve with co-founder Dr. Robbie Smith as leader of the Sunday School Staff she served in this position for more than 12 years. Rev. Gray retired from Los Angeles Public Library after 34 years of service in 2010. During that time she oversaw the 12 branch capital campaign in the Western Area of the City, renovating and building new branch libraries. She led the library’s team that launched the innovative Electronic Information Magnet High School, a partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District. She received a Career Service award from the Mayor of Los Angeles for turning a fledgling adult literacy project into a stable service of the Los Angeles Public Library. Committed to lifelong learning Suzanne has served on national, state and local literacy organizational boards and testified before the U.S. Congress on meeting adult educational needs. Rev. Gray continues to find ways to serve her community.
In 2012 she served as the interim Spiritual Leader for the Menifee Center for Spiritual Living until a permanent minister was called. Suzanne’s leadership and instructional talents have been applied to serving others in teaching spiritual expansion classes and mentoring women who are growing new businesses. She now serves as the Volunteer Archivist and Librarian to the Riverside Art Museum and sits on the museum’s Collection and Acquisition Committee. Rev. Gray has one daughter, three sons and daughter-in-laws, along with five grandchildren. She and her husband Lawton share the joy of traveling, especially trips to the mountains, the Caribbean, and family re-unions.
Rev. Gray is privileged to be part of an extended family that includes seven female ministers of diverse faiths.
